Scientist, Detection Platform

Description:
Work independently and with a team to optimize the detection of assay products from various functional genomics assays developed at ParAllele on a variety of detection platforms. This work involves both creative use of molecular biology and the implementation of new detection media (E.G. microarrays) and their associated detection instrumentation. A significant part of this job may entail co-development of the detection and sample-handling instrumentation in conjunction with engineers. As solutions to the various challenges are achieved, the candidate may participate in process development efforts to allow their implementation in high-throughput genotyping or other studies.

Requirements

• This position requires a good working knowledge of molecular biology, including experience with nucleic acids and hybridization, proteins, DNA microarrays and fluorescence measurements.
• Proficiency in data analysis programs (e.g. Excel, Spotfire, LabView) and good facility with instrumentation are a must.
• Experience with assay/instrument co-development and optics is highly desirable.
• Ph.D. in a Biological Science (e.g. Molecular Biology or Biochemistry).
• 2+ years of industry experience (or equivalent) in a functional genomics environment required.
• Proficiency in the critical analysis of large data sets and an aptitude for assay/instrument co-development are necessary.
• Must be highly motivated with excellent experimental and communication skills.
