Product Manager, Genotyping Assays and KitsReporting to: Director of Marketing
Description:
Working in a dynamic and growing environment, this is a hands-on position responsible for new product development and launch for the genotyping market.
Duties will include the following:
Product Development
- Manage product development through R&D genotyping team on concept and feasibility for assay improvements.
- Manage development to product specifications, including QA of assay improvements from R&D.
- Coordinate with manufacturing team for scale-up and kit production.
- Work with assay services team in Operations to perform large product validation studies.
- Work with applications team to perform product applications benchmarking.
- Coordinate availability of C of A's and MSDS's to the marketplace.
- Manage development of genotyping product marketing materials, protocols and user guides with a technical writer.
- Develop and refine key performance metrics for genotyping products.
- Coordinate with Software/Instrumentation Product Manager to manage whole product releases.
Assay and Kit Specifications
- Define specifications for genotyping kits and assay workflow.
- Collaborate with market development manager to incorporate market feedback and competitive intelligence into definition of kit and assay product development requirements.
- Collaborate with Application Support team to define assay workflow/usability improvements.
- Coordinate with Software/Instrumentation Product Manger on whole product specifications.
- Define look and feel for reagent kits.
- Help define product marketing messages for sales force training.
- Collaborate with Market Communications Manager on product/kit messages.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. (or M.S. with 5+ years experience) in Molecular Biology/Biochemistry.
- Extensive experience with assay design & new product development, DNA arrays, and genotyping required. 5+ years in biotech industry strongly preferred.
- Significant experience with product launches involving integrated kit, software and instrumentation components.
- Experience with genotype analysis software to measure assay performance.
- Excellent problem solving and interpersonal skills required.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication and training skills required.
