Desktop Support Technician - Part Time (Independent Contractor)
Description:
Working in a dynamic and growing environment, this position will be responsible for providing hardware and software technical support to the local and remote end user.
Duties will include the following:
- Installation and support of PC hardware and software applications including but no limited to operating systems and productivity suites.
- Provide support, service, maintenance and repairs of computers and peripherals.
- Provide phone and online support for remote users.
- Perform hardware/software diagnostics as needed for troubleshooting.
- Provide installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of printers and fax machines.
- Perform moves, adds and changes to end users desktop phone and voice mailbox.
- Add, change and remove users and systems from Active Directory.
- Enforce current anti-virus and software, driver updates for all systems.
- Assist Sr. Systems/Network Administrator in projects and as needed.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware (desktop/laptop) with the ability to recognize hardware failures and remove/replace as needed.
- Strong knowledge of multiple MS Operating Systems (server and client) with the ability to perform fresh installations, maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Strong knowledge of MS Office (2000, 2002, 2003) with the ability to perform fresh installations, maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory.
- Basic knowledge of VPN and remote access.
- Basic knowledge of TCP/IP networking and addressing standards.
- Basic knowledge of CAT5e wiring and connectivity standards.
- Must be resourceful and know how and/or where to get information needed to resolve an issue in a timely manner.
- Must be able to recognize viral behaviors and recover systems that have been infected in a timely manner.
- Must be self motivated, self directed and proactive.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Must be willing to work days, nights and weekends as needed.
- A+ Certification preferred, but not required.
